The U.S. dollar is widely accepted in the Cayman Islands. If US currency is used for payment, change will likely be given in CI.

In Grand Cayman, several well-known rental agencies operate at the Owen Roberts International airport and offer convenient pickup and drop-off services. This is often the most flexible way to travel around; don't forget to drive on the left, though!

The local bus system is a private service, not a municipal operation. Buses run at irregular intervals daily (except Sundays and holidays) between West Bay and George Town. They can be caught at any bus stop sign, shelter, or simply along the road by waving your hand. Buses can be recognized by the yellow or green round "WB" sticker on the front and rear of the van. Routes run approximately every 5–15 minutes and cost $2.50 USD / $2.00 KYD one way. Upon boarding, tell the driver your destination and ask to be dropped off there.
Taxis are readily available at the airport, major resorts, cruise port, and popular attractions. Please note there is no Uber or Lyft on the island — taxis are the primary on-demand transportation choice. Fares are government regulated.
